There are few activities that scream summer like going on a hike.  Out in the great outdoors, enjoying nature, feeling the breeze on your face.  Hiking brings the thrill of adventure.

There are also few feelings worse than being unprepared for what that adventure might hold.  Proper planning and equipment can help you prepare though and make your adventure even more enjoyable.  An experienced hiker will tell you, a prepared hiker is a happy hiker.

Before summer plans get underway, as you are planning out your trips and excursions, take the time to go through our carefully cultivated list to make sure you have all the essentials you will need to conquer this summer.

Along with a list of everything you need, we want to make sure you get the most of your hiking experience. Be sure to read through and see what stands out to you.

1. LifeStraw Go Water Filter Bottles

When hiking or exercising outdoors, water is vital.  Staying hydrated is one of the greatest challenges you will face and can have dire consequences.  Along with carrying enough water, you need to know that the water is clean and you can get clean water on-the-go if the opportunity presents itself.

Equipped with a 2-stage activated carbon filter, you can reduce chlorine and kill most bacteria and waterborne parasites on the spot.  That means that lake or stream waters you are near can become drinking water it need be.

This water bottle is great for hiking and longer backpacking trips.  While there are water bottles that are more cost-effective, the ability to create clean water on the go is a must!

  • 23-ounces
  • BPA free
  • 2-stage activated charcoal carbon filters
  • Reduces 99.99% of all water-borne bacteria parasites
  • Portable with silicone drinking top

Since hydration is the most important item, we have placed it at the top of the list.  It only makes sense then that we include the top of the list recommendation here.  You will be hard pressed to find a better water bottle that can create its own clean water on the hike itself.

8) Wsky LED Tactical Flashlight

Whether it is to explore a certain area, light your way, or have a hike to a picnic under the stars, you want a course of light with you.  We have found no better than the Wksy LED Tactical Flashlight S2000.  With its’ advanced lighting technology, and zooming capacity you can focus right on something up to 1200 feet away from you.

Along with focusing, the wide beam mode can light a whole room.  No need for a lantern!

The S2000 uses only 3 standard AAA batteries but is over 20 times brighter than the old flashlight models.  This is because of the T6S wick chip which is larger and brighter than other LED flashlights.

With so much power behind it, it is surprising how compact it is.  It will easily fit in your pack back or even car glove compartment.  It comes with a pocket-friendly belt clip and the anti-slip grip makes it easy to hold onto.
